A Southern Sweetheart

Joy Madeline is a Texas-based lyricist, painter, & magazine editor. Her songwriting career began at a young age under the guidance of her late teacher John DeFoore, who is known for instructing several musicians that rose from her hometown. After his passing she continued to write, running with his praises of her “outstanding for her age” songwriting style. She credits DeFoore for her discipline to be a consistent writer who doesn’t just think outside of the box but gets rid of the box entirely.

From singing at her small town restaurant's open mic, to joining a songwriting club in college, & uploading her own music, songwriting has become a formative part of her life - An extension of her. Influenced by a variety of genres including Indie folk, Classic rock, Folk country, & more, her songs fall into multiple categories. She draws inspiration from her own experiences, raw emotions, traveling & being a natural observer to everthing that meets the eye.
